Sumter National Forest
On October 23rd, 27 volunteers met in Chester County to clean up Sumter National Forest.  We’d like to thank the volunteers who cleaned up 1460lbs of trash, as well as, Chester County for supplying roll-off containers and Wal-Mart of Chester for donating bottled water.
Illegal dumping continues to be a problem in many areas of our National Forests and we are determined to prevent it through education, enforcement, awareness and pickup. Please visit www.palmettopride.org/getinvolved.asp for more volunteer opportunities.
Thank You MUSC Volunteers

PalmettoPride and Keep Charleston Beautiful would like to recognize the Physicians Assistant Studies group from MUSC. A group of around 30 students from MUSC came out and spent 2 hours in pluffmud and marsh grass to help remove over 20 bags of litter from a local marsh along the Charleston Harbor.
The group was also able to remove a tire that was stuck in the mud and some large chunks of plastic piping. Even though some of the volunteers were knee deep in stinky marsh mud, they never stopped smiling and answering questions from on-looking tourists that were walking through Waterfront Park.

Volunteer for America Recycles Day
“I Recycle” is the theme of Keep America Beautiful’s 2010 America Recycles Day (ARD), which takes place on November 15. Event organizers will proudly declare “I Recycle. Do you?” at events throughout November, designed to educate, motivate and inspire individuals to recycle more while encouraging their friends and families to do the same.
If you would like to participate in America Recycles Day, volunteer or recycle with these local groups.
