KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL CERTIFIES YORK COUNTY AS SOUTH CAROLINA'S NEWEST AFFILIATE
Keep York County Beautiful Board Members Sworn in at County Council Meeting
Columbia, SC – Keep South Carolina Beautiful, a division of PalmettoPride, announces the official certification of Keep York County Beautiful as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. (KAB). Keep York County Beautiful (KYCB) was formed as a Board under York County government and will be coordinated by York County Department of Solid Waste Collection & Recycling.
The newly formed Board was the result of a year-long commitment of Barbara Clinton, Clean Community Coordinator for Solid Waste Collection and Recycling (SWC&R) and a certification team consisting of several employees of SWC&R and concerned citizens from York County. This certification team was tasked with creating a mission statement, logo, budget, setting bi-laws and developing the Board of Directors.
Keep York County Beautiful is the 26th KAB affiliate in South Carolina. KAB is the nation's largest community improvement organization aimed at engaging citizens to take responsibility for their community environments focusing on three areas: litter prevention, waste reduction and beautification. By joining the KAB network, York County shows leadership in creating cleaner, safer and conscientious communities. KAB communities bring an average of 16:1 return on investments: for every dollar invested by local governments, an average of $16 of benefits is returned to communities.
Keep South Carolina Beautiful is the state affiliate for KAB and a division of PalmettoPride. Its role is two-fold: 1) to serve on a committee providing guidance on programs and policy for the national organization, and 2) to assist the local affiliates with communications from the national office, provide training and education for affiliates staff and board of directors, and to fulfill program obligations for KAB on a local level, such as the Great American Cleanup.
