VOLUNTEERS REMOVE 380 BAGS OF TRASH, TIRES, AND LARGE ITEMS FROM LAKE GREEN
 For Immediate Release Media Contact: April 1, 2010 Sarah Robinson, 803-758-6034 VOLUNTEERS REMOVE 380 BAGS OF TRASH, TIRES, AND LARGE ITEMS FROM LAKE GREENWOOD Columbia, SC – More than 200 volunteers came together on Saturday, March 13, 2010, to cleanup trash and debris at Lake Greenwood. 239 volunteers at the 2nd Annual Lake Greenwood Cleanup removed 380 bags of trash, 114 tires and many other items: a swimming pool, boat batteries, a trampoline, household items and many other items. Volunteer participation doubled from the first cleanup in 2009, and nearly tripled the amount of trash removed. After cleaning up for about 4 hours, volunteers were treated to lunch, giveaways and music from WSSL 100.5. Local businesses contributing to the event were as follows: Piggly Wiggly Howard's On Main, Chick-Fil-A, Honey Baked Ham, Greenwood Sandwich Co., T.W. Boon's, Pascal's, Carolina BBQ, Papa John's Pizza. Pepsi provided a "drink wagon" for the day's event Event organizers thank sponsors Prudential Cambridge Realty, Moons Landing Boat and RV Park, Powell's Trash Service and Recycling, and Rush Heating and Cooling.
