AWARENESS OF ZERO TOLERANCE FOR LITTER TAKES PLACE APRIL 17 – 19, 2009

This campaign unites all enforcement agencies to target littering, illegal dumping and unsecured loads. This is an awareness campaign to bring attention to the dangers of litter and the importance of enforcing the litter laws. Litter is not just an eyesore; it harms the environment and is a danger to drivers and pedestrians. WHERE: The North Steps of the South Carolina State House, Gervais Street WHEN: News Conference date is Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Officers arrive at 10:30 a.m. WHY: The number one source of litter on our roadways comes from trash the blows out of vehicles that carry improperly secured loads. This event is geared to educate citizens on the state's litter laws. PHOTOS: Last year, over 40 officers representing state and county agencies gathered on the State House steps to show solidarity in the mission of Zero Tolerance. PalmettoPride is your anti-litter organization. Its mission is to eradicate litter and promote beautification in the state.
