LEADERSHIP IN HIGHWAY BEAUTIFICATION RECOGNIZED AT SPECIAL BREAKFAST

PalmettoPride Honors Mayor Summey and Prideways Sponsors

North Charleston, SC – Twelve Charleston County businesses were recognized this morning at a breakfast sponsored by City of North Charleston and PalmettoPride in honor of their contributions to highway beautification and economic development.  Mayor Keith Summey was also honored for his leadership for bringing business leaders together to foster economic development through cleaner communities.

Representative Chip Limehouse and Mayor Summey recognized the following companies: Fennell Container Corporation, Stokes Automotive Group, The Muhler Company, SC Education Lottery, Fox 24 & MyTV Charleston, Navy Yard at Noisette, Ryland Homes, Gramling Brothers, North Charleston Coliseum, Centerplate, Daniel Island Real Estate and Long Point Eye Center.

“Prideways offers a great opportunity for businesses to become involved in improving communities and receive recognition for their efforts,” said Rick Cothran, Director of Operations for PalmettoPride, “Mayor Summey has been a tremendous ambassador for us in Charleston County.”

Prideways sponsor signs in Charleston County are viewed by over 100,000 cars daily traveling down I-26 and I-526.  This local and out of state traffic offers a significant amount of recognition to Prideways sponsors for their contributions to the program.

Palmetto Prideways is a public-private partnership program where businesses sponsor a two-mile stretch of interstate for twice-monthly cleanups.  Since its inception, the Prideways program has helped reduce litter on South Carolina highways by 40%.  Charleston County has sixteen available Prideways sections, twelve of which are already sponsored.
