PalmettoPride to Honor Art Contest Winners at State House

PalmettoPride has announced its statewide Litter Trashes Everyone elementary school art contest winners.

Winners will be formally presented with their awards by Governor Nikki Haley at the State House on April 23, 2015.

The purpose of the art contest is to teach the students about the effects of litter and encourage positive behaviors in a fun and creative way.

Grace Drawdy, a 5th grader at Flat Rock Elementary School in Anderson was chosen as the state winner. Grace’s picture will become the artwork for PalmettoPride’s t-shirts for 2015-2016.

In addition to the top award, PalmettoPride awarded regional winners.

Lowcountry Region Winner is Naci Proveaux, a 4th grade student at Richard Carroll Elementary School in Bamberg.

Midlands Region Winner is Gage Morris, a 5th grade student at Byrd Elementary in Graniteville.

Pee Dee Region Winner is Kayla Cruz, a 5th grade student at McCormick Elementary School in Mullins.

Upstate Region Winner is Grace Drawdy.

The art contest is open to all South Carolina Elementary Students. Participating schools select a school winner that is represented in the selection process for the regional and statewide winners. For the past two years, school winners have been on display at Tapp’s Arts Center located at 1644 Main Street in Columbia during Youth Art Month in March.
