PalmettoPride offers a number of educational programs to engage students in helping keep our state clean and teaching them how they can be part of the solution.
“Litter Trashes Everyone” Puppet Show
PalmettoPride, along with the Columbia Marionette Theatre, presents “Litter Trashes Everyone” – a twenty minute educational performance featuring marionettes and hand puppets that conveys the message that every citizen has a responsibility to help keep South Carolina beautiful. The free puppet show is available to all elementary schools in South Carolina and targets children in grades K-5. To book a show at your school, please contact John Scollon by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 803-252-7366.
Louie the Lion – PalmettoPride’s Mascot
Louie the Lion is PalmettoPride’s mascot serving as an ambassador to children of all ages. His goal is to turn litterbugs into clean freaks, and to help kids take “pride” in their beautiful state.
Louie was born in 2002 and is an avid believer in educating South Carolina children on the importance of keeping their state clean. Louie is available to schools and festivals across the state. If you are interested in having Louie perform at your event, please contact Mallory Biering at 1-877-725-7733.
PalmettoPride Promise Program
This program featuring the most current Miss South Carolina is aimed at middle school students to raise awareness of the litter problem in South Carolina. After listening to a presentation highlighting some of the problems and solutions regarding litter, students take the PalmettoPride promise to assist in the effort to keep South Carolina litter free.
To book Miss South Carolina to present the PalmettoPride Promise Program to your students, please email email@example.com.
Litter-Free games is an opportunity for clubs and organizations at the high school level to make their athletic events litter-free, while gaining a chance to earn money for their organization.
Each participating high school will receive free banners to promote their school’s event along with litter bags to hand out and trash bags to help with the cleanup. The goal of this program is to encourage fans to discard of their waste properly and provide leadership skills for the students organizing the event.
